SÅNÄTT was a collaborative project driven by a common goal: to strengthen the Swedish automotive industry. Academics, automotive suppliers and one OEM (initially SAAB, later Volvo Cars) were to collaborate, research and develop innovative lightweight design concepts, with the goal of creating a car that weighs 20-40% less than that of a classic family saloon, in this instance a Volvo V60.
